The new East Jackson Eagle head football coach is a former Tiger.
The Jackson County Board of Education hired former Clemson Tiger player Brian Smith as the new head football coach at East Jackson Comprehensive High School. The action took place last Thursday night following a 45-minute closed session to discuss personnel.
Smith is the current head football and basketball coach at Hebron Christian Academy in Dacula, but he is also a former head football coach at North Greenville University. He also served as head coach at Strom Thurmond, Riverside and Seneca high schools in South Carolina and most recently as head coach at Hebron.
Smith will also teach math at EJCHS.
A 1991 graduate of Clemson University, Smith received a bachelor of arts degree in secondary math education, followed by a master’s degree in curriculum instruction and assessment from Walden University in 2006.
His wife, April, is a 1992 graduate of Clemson and holds a bachelor’s degree in elementary and early childhood education. They have three children, Brianne, 13, Britney, 10 and Bret, 7.
Smith’s was 38-25 from 1995-1999 at Strom Thurmond High, 9-12 in two years at Riverside High, 10-11 in two seasons North Greenville College and 23-20 in four seasons at Seneca High School. Hebron Christian was 9-1 this year.
