Darrell Hampton resigned as Jackson County manager Monday with March 15 as his last day.
The Jackson County Board of Commissioners accepted Hampton’s resignation following a 15-minute closed session to discuss “personnel.” There was no discussion on the matter when the meeting was opened to the public.
Commissioner Bruce Yates made the motion to accept Hampton’s letter of resignation. Commissioner Tom Crow voted against the motion to accept Hampton’s letter of resignation, while the other commissioners voted in favor of it.
Hampton will receive six months' pay, as is outlined in his contract. This will be $53,106.
Leonard Myers, who has served two times in the past as interim county manager, will serve Jackson County while a replacement is found for Hampton.
Hampton has served as county manager since November 2007.
