The process of reapportioning Commerce’s voting districts following the 2010 Census has started.
Jackson County GIS director Joel Logan has already produced a map of the city dividing its five wards/school board districts that would bring them into compliance with the federal Voting Rights Act.
But complying with the law is just one consideration; keeping incumbent elected officials happy is the other.
