Jobless rate continues to fall

Sometimes its scarcely noticeable, but the unemployment rate in Georgia — and Jackson County — continues to trend downward.

The Georgia Department of Labor announced Monday that the state’s preliminary unemployment rate was 10 percent, down two-tenths of a percent from February.

Jackson County’s jobless rate for March is pegged at 10 percent, down from 10.6 in March.

Other area counties and their preliminary unemployment rates include:

•Barrow, 9.7 percent, down from 10.2

•Clarke, 7.5 percent, down from 7.6

•Madison, 7.7 percent, down from 8.3

•Banks, 7.2 percent, down from 7.6

•Hall, 8.5 percent, down from 8.9

•Madison, 7.7 percent, down from 8.3
