While he hasn’t made an official announcement yet, Ward 4 city councilman Dr. Clark Hill advised members of the Downtown Development Authority that he plans to run for mayor in the Nov. 8 Commerce elections.
Hill, 39, was widely regarded as a potential candidate once Mayor Charles L. Hardy Jr. announced that he would not seek re-election.
Hill broached the topic at the DDA’s May 18 meeting by announcing his intention to resign from the DDA, where he is both its chairman and the city council’s liaison to the group.
“I am going to run for mayor,” he stated. “For me, there is a need to clean some stuff off my plate to do that.”
