Nicholson city residents may get citations for their pets’ misbehavior if a motion discussed at a work session Thursday night is approved.
Mayor Ronnie Maxwell brought a proposed animal control ordinance to the city council’s work session last Thursday night. The ordinance will be on the agenda for action at the June 6 city council meeting.
The ordinance would allow the city to write citations for stray animals. Warnings would be given initially, but the new ordinance would empower the city to write citations and levy fines.
Nicholson Mayor Ronnie Maxwell wants the city council to implement an animal control ordinance. The issue will be on the council's agenda June 6.

We do have a BIG problem here, but just putting another useless law on the books without adding someone trained to capture these loose animals is certainly NOT going to fix the problem. And hiring another city employee is just going to add more to the tax burden.
So what's it going to be Ronnie? Another teethless law, with nothing and nobody to back it up, or another boondoggle attempt at hiring an "enforcer" that the city can't afford and most residence don't want?
What we NEED is more common (uncommon?) sense!
Enforce the county ordinance! There are already ordinances in place NOW that aren't being enforced!
We don't need another ordinance that will do nothing to solve the problem.
