Final phase of CHS demolition about to start

By the time school starts in the fall, four new tennis courts should be ready for public use.

Because the system changed its plans for the alignment of the tennis courts, it had to resubmit for a grading permit, which is expected to be approved in the immediate future.

“It should be just a formality,” said McCoy. “We can go ahead and take the buildings down, but we can’t cut the grade.”

According to McCoy, there are no issues with hazardous materials in the demolition aspect. Those matters, he said, were dealt with when the high school was renovated years ago.

The former cafeteria will be renovated into a board room, and the kitchen and former office complex will be utilized for administrative offices.
