A request to locate a junkyard and flea market on Hwy. 441 hit a roadblock Monday night when the Commerce Planning Commission voted to recommend that the applicant’s annexation request be denied.
Roy Cowart had requested that the city annex and rezone to C-2 an 11-acre tract on Hwy. 441. Cowart reportedly wants to develop the property into a junkyard and flea market.
Planning commission chairman Greg Perry and commission members Jimbo Stephenson and Andre Rollins voted to deny the request. Planning commission members Hasco Craver and Joe Leffew were not present at the meeting.
