Former Commerce Main Street manager and Downtown Development Authority executive director Hasco Craver has accepted a job as Newnan’s business development director.
Craver, 31, has submitted his resignation to the Northeast Georgia Regional Commission, where he’s worked as a project manager since September 2009. His wife, Rebecca, has resigned as a Commerce Primary School second grade teacher as the couple prepares to relocate to Newnan.
Craver was Main Street manager and DDA executive director from March 2006 until September 2009.
“The opportunities I’ve been afforded are directly attributable to the city of Commerce, the elected and appointed officials who five-plus years ago gave a fresh-faced college kid a shot,” Craver commented. “Through their support and assistance I was able to continue trying to actualize my professional goals.”
According to the Newnan Times-Herald, Craver “will be charged with implementing and directing programs to recruit new business ventures into the city and working with existing businesses for retention and expansion opportunities. This will include the supervision of the Main Street Newnan program, which is governed by the Newnan Downtown Development Authority.”
“I’m really excited about it,” he said of the opportunity. “The community there has been really welcoming to date and Becca and I are excited about becoming a part of that community similar to what we did in Commerce. We hope to be as active as we were in Commerce. Hopefully we’ll get the same warm reception. Commerce will always hold a special place in our hearts — as a young couple, we got married while I was working there, we bought first home there, we had our first child there — those are memories you cherish for a lifetime. The city of Commerce and all the friends around will always be imprinted in our life story.”
Craver was a director of the Boys and Girls Club of Jackson County, participated in the Jackson County mentoring program and was a member of the Kiwanis Club and the PTO. The Cravers are members of Commerce Presbyterian Church.
We are excited about having Hasco and Becca become a part of our community and look forward to working with them for years to come.
I URGE THE CITY COUNCIL TO KEEP HASCO IN MIND AS MANY MANAGEMENT POSITIONS WILL COME OPEN IN THE NEXT COUPLE OF YEARS.
NEWNAN'S GAIN IS TRULY OUR LOSS.
