Thieves work Woodland Heights Subdivision

The man told police that as he drove to work he found the battery just down the street.

That was the first of six reports from the neighborhood.

A 69-year-old white female told officers that someone entered her unlocked vehicle, scattered its contents around, but did no damage and took nothing.

Across the street, a home-owner reported coming into his basement office to find that his laptop computer and accessories, which he’d left on a table the night before, were missing. The thief apparently entered through unlocked basement doors.

At yet another residence, a 68-year-old white male reported that all three of his vehicles — all unlocked — had been entered but nothing was missing, although the contents were laid on the seat. There was no damage to the vehicles.

The residents of a sixth house on the street reported that someone entered a utility building, but nothing was missing.

The incidents are just the latest in a series of property crimes that have occurred all over town, police say. In the vast majority of the cases the thief or thieves have taken advantage of unlocked doors to gain entry to vehicles.
