Paula Hardy, retired educator, mayor's wife, dies

Paula Niven Hardy, wife of Commerce Mayor Charles L. Hardy Jr., died Sunday morning at Northeast Georgia Medical Center, Gainesville, following an extended illness.

She was retired after teaching first grade for 32 years at Commerce Elementary School (now Commerce Primary School), and she and Mayor Hardy had been married for 49 years.

The funeral was held Wednesday at the First Baptist Church of Commerce. Burial was at Grey Hill Cemetery.
