A woman who allegedly threatened to blow up Regions Bank because the Commerce Hardee’s restaurant “stole” her hamburger recipe has been charged with terroristic threats and acts, according to the Commerce Police Department.
According to the incident report, Marilyn Winters, 55, of 2903 Hwy. 59, Commerce, had on two prior occasions entered Regions Bank’s South Elm Street office demanding money. Aware that Hardee’s makes deposits at the bank, Winters told bank officials that Hardee’s stole her recipe and she wanted the money due her. There was no indication that she’d tried to get money directly from the restaurant.
The third visit was not the charm, however, as bank personnel said Winters, before leaving, told them, “I’m going to blow this place up.”
Officers learned from the Hardee’s manager that Winters was a regular customer who would be dropped off at the restaurant two or three times a week and would stay there, sometimes for hours, until the same person came by to pick her up. They also said she’d once been banned from the restaurant for offending customers, the report said.
Learning that Winters was in a waiting room at Northridge Medical Center, an officer made contact with her there.
Winters admitted going to the bank, the report said.
“She stated she knew Hardee’s deposited their money at Regions Bank and she wanted what was hers,” the officer wrote. He also noted that Winters denied threatening to blow up the bank.
If they're using her recipe, she should be paying them.
