Jackson County’s jobless rate fell three-tenths of a percent during July, according to figures for July released last week by the Georgia Department of Labor.
The DOL put Jackson County’s unemployment rate at 10.3 percent, down from 10.6 in June and a tenth of a percent lower than the state July rate of 10.4 percent.
Other area counties and their jobless rates include:
•Banks, 7.5 percent, down from 7.7 percent in June
•Barrow, 9.7 percent, down from 10.3
•Hall, 8.7 percent, down from 9.0
•Madison, 8.2 percent, down from 8.5
•Clarke, 8.2 percent, down from 8.8
Oconee County continued to boast of the lowest jobless rate in Georgia at 6.2 percent. That’s down from 6.6 percent in June. Meanwhile, Jenkins County, with a jobless rate of 22.3 percent, has the distinction of having the highest unemployment rate in Georgia.
