Wreck at road construction site injures three

The driver of a Dodge Avenger said she was slowing down for the flag man at the construction site when she noticed in her rear-view mirror a Chevy Blazer speeding toward her. The driver of the Avenger attempted to pull onto the shoulder of the road to avoid the collision, but said she could not get all the way off because of a highway curve sign.

The Blazer struck the left rear of the Avenger, then struck the rear of a county sports utility vehicle that had already stopped.

The driver of the Blazer and a passenger were taken to an area hospital by ambulance, as was a back-seat passenger in the county car. Gina Mitsdarffer of the county's planning department identified her as Nicole Martin, an administrative assistant.

Information on the condition of the injured was not immediately available.
