Drug dealer quickly back in jail

Detectives contacted a reliable confidential informant, gave him some marked money and a recording device, and sent him to Maddox’s 51 Pine Street residence to make a purchase.

The officers watched the informant make contact with Maddox, and when he returned the informant had a small quantity of a substance later confirmed as crack cocaine, the report said.

Next, officials contacted Maddox’s probation officer, secured a warrant for a drug arrest from the magistrate, and organized a raid.

Meanwhile, they learned that Maddox was expecting a large quantity of cocaine, so they set their informant up for another buy, which took place successfully.

The lead detective in the case called the team in, and he pulled up in Maddox’s driveway, pulled his service weapon and ordered men gathered there to put their hands up. Maddox fled, the officer and his team pursued him, and they subdued him after an officer shot Maddox with a “pepper spray ball gun,” a weapon similar to a paintball gun designed to incapacitate without seriously harming the suspect.

Officers recovered their marked bills and other cash from Maddox’s pocket, the report said, and found near where he’d attempted to hide a bag containing a “large amount” of crack cocaine.

He was charged with distribution of crack cocaine and possession of crack cocaine with intent to distribute.
