That event will combine a typical fall festival with a YearOne auto show, the chamber’s annual chili cook-off and a new fall festival.
At the same time, across Lyle Field Road at the Jackson County Airport, the Jackson County Aviation Association will hold its annual Fly-in, featuring all things aviation — and a car show.
There is a $3 parking charge for the GMP event, which organizers say is expected to draw 8,000 visitors. Inside the speedway there will be 22 vendors selling festival foods, hand-made crafts including jewelry, aprons, dolls, painted gourds, holiday items, embroidery, crocheted items, monogramed items, leather belts, ceramics, T-shirts and art work.
From noon to 3 p.m., 10 teams will compete in the chili cook-off for the People’s Choice, Showmanship and Best Tasting honors. A $5 armband entitles festivalgoers to taste each of the chili recipes — and to vote for the People’s Choice winner.
Gresham Motorsports Park will also be selling its regular race concessions from its concession stand. Spectators will be able to purchase hamburgers, hot dogs, homemade barbecue, homemade strawberry shortcakes, apple dumplings and other items. Adult beverages will also be available to purchase from GMP in select areas.
The YearOne car show will include an automotive swap meet, a motorcycle show, and autocross competition, automotive burnout exhibition and more.
Funopolis will offer entertainment for children, and there will be other kid-themed booths.
There is no entry fee to the festival, but the following fees will apply:
