Crossing Place apartment burgled

A Commerce couple reported some unappreciated assistance as they moved out of a Crossing Place apartment on Monday.

The couple, a 27-year-old white male and 26-year-old white female, explained that they had served notice on the apartment management that they were moving out and had just about completed the move, except for tools, some paint, a TV and Christmas gifts.

When they returned to the apartment, they found missing a 42-inch flat-screen TV valued at $700, a tool box and tools worth $200; two gallons of paint valued at $30, a six-foot ladder worth $30, a cordless drill valued at $50 and miscellaneous Christmas gifts worth $150.

There was no sign of forced entry.

The two said they talked to a maintenance man, who said he did not take the items but that the other maintenance man might have.
