Man passes out, someone steals vehicle

A man who passed out while visiting the Commerce Post Office early one morning suffered more than a medical setback.

According to the Commerce Police Department, a 30-year-old white male went to the post office at about 5 a.m. to check his post office box and passed out. The reason he lost consciousness was not indicated, but when the man came to he was greeted by a city police officer and taken to his grandmother’s residence.

A couple hours later, the man returned to the post office to find that his vehicle was missing. He told police that when he passed out, the keys were in his possession.

In addition to the vehicle, the man lost a laptop computer, $2,000 worth of clothing, a backpack with books, a collection of CDs and various medications that were in the vehicle.
