Seven injured in 3-car wreck on Hwy. 15

A three-vehicle wreck injured seven people Thursday afternoon on Hwy. 11 near the intersection of Red Bird Drive.

Mickey Haynes, a passenger in a Toyota Tundra pickup truck traveling west toward Jefferson from the Round Barn Mattresses store, said an oncoming panel truck drifted into the westbound lane, striking the Tundra.
The truck continued in the wrong lane another 100 yards, where it struck a Ford Expedition head-on.

The driver and front-seat passenger of the Expedition were extracted by Jefferson rescue workers and transported to an area hospital. Two young children were riding in the back seat, one of whom complained of chest injuries, according to Arnold Sanchez, who lives nearby. He said the front-seat occupants were the mother and grandmother of the little girls. The vehicle had Barrow County plates.

Lettering on the side of the panel truck indicated it is owned by C/S, Inc. It had Clayton County plates.

Taylor Kennedy, driver of the Tundra, was also transported to a hospital with leg and arm injuries. Haynes suffered cuts to the head, but was ambulatory. The driver of the panel truck complained of leg injuries.

Identities of the other victims were not readily available.
