Four people got first-hand experience during the past week in why it pays to show up for a court date, according to the Commerce Police Department.
Two were charged with driving with a suspended license for failure to appear for previous offenses and two were picked up on warrants for failure to appear.
When someone does not appear in court and the judge issues an FTA warrant, a $100 fee is automatically applied — over and above any fine coming from the original charges. In addition, if the court notifies the state of the failure to appear, the state can suspend the suspect’s driver’s license, which results in an additional hefty fine if the suspect is pulled over for a traffic violation.
Failure to appear catches up to 4

Corrupt Judicial System!

Failure to appear? Stiff punishment? Respect for the law and judicial system? My answer to these is this: Check the Atlanta J/C for an article concerning Obama and Georgia's judicial system or simply google it. It seems Obama was subpena'ed to show up in court. He snubbed the court to hold a speach in Nevada. And the legal system dares to punish a normal citizen? As far as "as an officer stopped for a disabled vehicle on U.S. 441" I would ask what crime was commited for having a disabled vehicle? Does the police know how hard economic times have forced people to push back on repairs? But then, when one takes money from the people for every whim, no common sense exists, rather greed for more dollars.
