Add aggravated assault charge to shoplifting

According to the incident report, the man ran out of Quality Foods with a quantity of “washing detergent,” jumped into his vehicle and left — backing all the way out of the parking lot so no one could read his tag.
Unfortunately for him, he is well known to store personnel, who said he had stolen from Quality Foods before, and to police.

A store employee gave chase in his vehicle, following the man, who lives on Lewis Circle, out Mount Olive Road toward U.S. 441. The man turned into Denton Body Shop and attempted to hide among the parked cars.

When the store employee came in, the suspect drove right at the employee, who had to get out of the way to avoid being hit. The man turned right on Mount Olive Road toward U.S. 441.
The owner of the body shop confirmed the attempt to run over the employee, according to the report.

The officer went by the suspect’s residence on Lewis Circle, but the man was not there.
