Daisies are back in style in Nicholson.
After weeks of back and forth votes, the Nicholson Water Authority (NWA) said “yes” to painting daisies on the new water tank.
In a 2-1 vote, the NWA approved a design that that will include a band of daisies near the top of the tank, the words “Nicholson Water” underneath the daisies, and “Authority” down the stem of the tank.
NWA member John Ring made the motion to approve the design and Walter Barnett seconded the motion. NWA member Daniel Sailors voted against the motion, while member Tully Westmoreland — who has been opposed to having daisies on the tank — was absent.
Nicholson city attorney Jody Campbell addressed the authority about the vote taken by the authority at the March 22 called meeting.
Campbell said the mayor and council listened to the audio of the NWA called meeting on March 22, “and some miscommunication has occurred.”
Campbell explained that the city council voted on a design that the council and the NWA members, excluding Westmoreland, had talked about during a joint discussion meeting. Campbell said the city didn’t have a problem with the NWA’s name being on the tank, the officials just wanted to have the daisies included in the design.
“I am here, representing the city, asking you to reconsider the vote taken at the March 22, 2012 meeting,” Campbell said.
This is just another example of what a joke the town of Nicholson has become.
