A break in a 14-inch water line under Interstate 85 last week is providing a host of headaches for the Commerce Water Department.
The break occurred on Sunday, July 1.
“We had a sudden pressure drop,” recalled Bryan Harbin, director of water and sewer operations. “We knew something was going on. We called four or five guys in and had them riding (looking for a major leak) but motorists on I-85 called 911 about water on the side of the road.”
