A Woodbine Street man told Commerce police officers he thinks his grandson stole the title to his car and his mobile home, possibly for the purpose of getting money from a title pawn operation.
The victim, an 86-year-old black male, said he noticed his lockbox open. He told police he leaves his door unlocked while he’s at church in case children need to enter the mobile home, but he could not explain how the lockbox was open, since he had the only keys.
The victim reported that in addition to removing the two titles from the box, the thief also stole two silver dollars and $13 in coins.
