The Commerce Police Department announced the arrest last week of a man they say cashed a series of forged checks earlier this month.
Alvin Bernard Wright, 52, 301 Sunrise Court, Union City, faces four charges each of forgery and fraudulent use of a driver’s license.
The incident reports indicate that Wright cashed forged checks from Lanier Pallet Company at Quality Foods, JD’s Tobacco Town, Cody Fuels and Warren’s Package Store. The checks at Cody Fuels and JD’s Tobacco Town were described as “identical” and were cashed on the same day.
Wright also allegedly attempted to cash a second check at Cody Fuels, but staff refused it, and the report indicates that he’s wanted in Walton County for cashing “several thousand dollars” worth of bad checks.
