With its top two candidates for city manager withdrawing their applications, the Commerce City Council has decided to seek additional applicants.
The two top candidates withdrew from consideration, explained interim city manager Tom Berry, who is leading the search on behalf of the city council.
“One got another job, and I don’t know the reason for the other,” he said.
Berry re-advertised the position for a couple of weeks, “just to see if there are any new applications out there. We’ll take some of the old and some of the new and see if we can kind of get a new group together to move forward.
“Not that the others weren’t good, but I’ve got to do some due diligence on (other applicants), some phone interviews, which is what I did with the others,” Berry said. “I think they’d like another three or four to go with the couple we’ve got now.”
That means another round of interviews, which Berry said should be completed by the end of September.

Do you blame those two for stepping out.... who would want to walk in on this mess. Plus how convenient that the interm manager is extending the search... I guess so he will have a job longer and help his power ego as well.
