The Jackson County Area Chamber of Commerce kicked off its search for a new president and CEO last week. The chamber hopes to have a successor to Shane Short, who resigned, by January.
“The committee will accept applications through Nov. 2, 2012, with the goal of having the vacancy filled by January 2013, said chairman Keith Johnson in an e-mail to chamber members. “Although we expect to have someone in place within this time frame, the search committee does plan to take as much time as is necessary to find the right person to fill the position.
“We’ll initially focus our search on the state of Georgia and our region by issuing a press release and posting the position this week on appropriate websites such as the Georgia Association of Chamber of Commerce Executives (GACCE). We should all use our networks, as well, so if any of you know of interested individuals, please encourage them to apply.”
Qualified applicants should send a cover letter, resume, and salary history to the Search Committee at P.O. Box 629, Jefferson, GA 30549.
According to Johnson, applicants will need a bachelor’s degree, preferably in marketing, business, finance or related field, and a minimum of five years of experience in leadership positions with increasing responsibilities at a chamber of commerce, private business, non-profit, or related field.
