Were those pills found in a plastic bag in a 37-year-old woman’s pocketbook Vitamin B-12 to be taken for a heart condition or drugs intended for misuse?
The Commerce Police Department arrest report of Brandi Flanagan, 37, of 35 Terry Dee Lane, Colbert, did not resolve that question. Flanagan faces charges of drugs to be kept in their original container, operating an unregistered vehicle and a headlight violation following a traffic stop last week.
The officer noted an inoperative headlight at 12:29 a.m. as Flanagan drove on North Elm Street near Washington Street, and pulled the vehicle over.
He got permission to search her purse and the vehicle and found “multiple pills” in a clear plastic bag from which he also noted the smell of marijuana. He also found straws cut into short lengths — typical for “snorting” drugs, white powdery residue on the straws, and multiple syringes. There was no indication he found any marijuana.
Flanagan, the report said, told the officer that the pills were Vitamin B-12, and she used the straws to crush the pills, which she then injected in her stomach for a “heart condition” because liquid Vitamin B-12 was not always available from her doctor.
The officer also searched her passenger, Billy Lewallen, 46, 804 Tallassee Road, Athens, and found multiple prescription bottles in his name, the report said. Among the substances were oxycodone and doladid. In addition, an officer found a single oxycodone pill in the side door, which Lewallen claimed.
He was charged with not keeping drugs in their original container.
The report also indicated that the pills found in Flanagan’s purse were prescription medications, but it did not identify exactly what they were.

Out at midnight. Straws to crush a pill? Try it. Is there really a Dr. without access to liquid B12? Would a Dr. actually tell you to crush a pill mix a little water with it and shoot it up? Oxyocodone and dolalid?
Prediction: We'll see these folks in the news again.
