Local patrons of the arts — and others interested in local painters and potters and their work — will have a chance to meet some of those artists Saturday afternoon in Commerce.
The seventh annual Meet the Artists event will take place from 3 to 6 p.m. in three downtown locations — Our Town Antiques and Sanders Furniture Co. on South Elm Street and the former Commerce News building on South Broad Street. The artists will all have works for sale.
The event originated at Our Town Antiques, but is now held in conjunction with the Downtown Development Authority.
Our Town will host folk artists Marie Elam and Bryan Armour of Banks County and Kevin Burchett of Commerce, along with potters Clint Alderman, Habersham County; Bryan Wilson, Gwinnett County; David Meaders, White County; and Janice Hall, Madison County.
At Sanders Furniture, the Cold Sassy Quilters Guild will have a quilt display, and Linda White, Commerce, will conduct a yarn spinning operation in the store’s front window.
At 1672 South Broad Street (the former Commerce News location), Marilyn McKie, Commerce, will be painting, and her sister, Barbara Seymour-Piebalato of South Carolina, will show off her geometric string art designs.
Meet-the-artist event is Saturday
