Commerce’s new city manager is out to clean up the city. Literally.
“We’re putting a high priority on code enforcement,” said Pete Pyrzenski in a recent interview. “I’ll be asking David Zellner (city planner) to become involved with codes in addition to Bill Vandiver. Essentially, we have one and a half code enforcement officers now.”
The plan, said Pyrzenski, is to start on the city’s main thoroughfares “to address properties that have been neglected or are boarded up or have junk on it.”
City manager to emphasize code enforcement

Some fat that could be trimmed is the NON WORKING Police Chief having 2 vehicles, an explorer and a crown vic, and another office member has a car that just sits at the office. A k9 unit that is not used to benefit the city or public, investigators who are more worried about looking like mountain men SWAT units, etc etc. This department has became an embarrassment to our city and the blame lies at the top.

If this man is what the mayor and council were looking for then the people of Commerce need to find a new mayor and council.

I think this is exactly what Commerce needs. You got a Chief who never leaves his office except to go to lunch, his radio show, or to teach his terrorism class in Athens. An un-needed Crime Scene Tech, a psoition that was created for the person who holds the job! Go figure why? You had a City Manager who thought he was GOD himself and that everyone should bow down to him. City employees in city Vehicles at the outlet malls and restaurants in Banks Crossing, which last time I checked is not in the City Limits of Commerce. Finally some one who is willing to address the problems and get rid of the dead weight! I say good job and keep up the good work! Also, maybe he can answer the question as to why the Chief needs two vehicles?
