Search for new chamber CEO continues

The committee has been at work since Shane Short resigned in August.

Treasurer Jim Shaw also had good news to report regarding the organization’s finances.

The group, he said, had $53,754 on hand. That’s up from a low of about $17,000 at the end of June, and it’s up by $3,000 over the past month.

“When cash is up, that’s a good sign,” Shaw, a banker, quipped. He pointed out that for October both income and expenses were approximately $8,000 under budget.

Year to date, income is $23,700 under budget, but expenses are $46,525 under budget, “so it’s still a good combination,” Shaw concluded.

President-elect Mark Valentine announced the recommendations for new directors from the Nominating Committee.

They include Charles Schrauth, BSI Search & Consultants; Tracy Jordan, West Jackson Medical Center; Josh Griffin, Wellspring Camp; Bill Cornell, Precision Planning; Van Yath, Spherion; and alternate David Harris, VF Outlet.

The board will vote on the slate at its Dec. 21 meeting.
