A Commerce resident died in a one-vehicle traffic accident early Sunday morning when his pickup truck ran off the road on Highway 326 six miles east of Commerce, according to the Georgia State Patrol.
The Patrol said Robert D. “Robby” Barnett, 44, part owner of Wing Slinger’s Bar in Hoschton, was traveling west when the vehicle left the road on a curve, struck a culvert and overturned, landing on its top. Barnett, who was not wearing a seat belt, was ejected. The vehicle subsequently burned.
The accident occurred at about 2:25 a.m., and the State Patrol indicated that alcohol might have been a factor.
