Speeding cases lead to other charges

A search of the vehicle led to the arrest of her passenger, Lyndy Clay Clark, 24, 521 Dry Pond Road, Covington, for failure to keep drugs in their original container. An officer found four pill bottles in Clark’s purse, including one that was labeled hydrocodone but contained prescription ibuprofen. The officer also found a “pill crusher,” multiple “drug test sticks,” a container of synthetic urine and a handwarmer.

Other Arrests

Other arrests reported by Commerce police over the past week include:

•Chad Clark Cooper, 20, 1110 Fernwood Drive, Watkinsville, speeding (75/55) and misdemeanor possession of marijuana. He was pulled over on U.S. 441 and the officer noticed the smell of marijuana. The officer found a small amount in a bag in a shoebox in the back seat of the vehicle, the report said.

•Ainsworth F. Gordon, 42, 45 Tennis Court, Apt. D7, Brooklyn, NY, speeding (85/70) and driving without a license. He did produce a learner’s permit that expired in 2006 after being pulled over on I-85.

•Edgardo Lanzo, 29, 4643 Naples Street, Philadelphia, PA, speeding (87/70) and driving with a suspended license. He was pulled over on I-85.

•William Rogers, 58, 4618 Shadow Moss Court, Augusta, speeding (73/55) and driving under the influence (DUI) of alcohol. He was pulled over on U.S. 441, whereupon the officer noted the smell of alcohol. The charges came after he flunked a field sobriety test and blew a .114 on the Intoxilyzer 5000.

•Brian Watson, 32, 1525 Laurel Crossing Parkway, Apt. 1223, Buford, speeding (73/55) and driving without insurance. He was pulled over on U.S. 441.

•James Lee Elrod, 42, 335 Old Harden Orchard Road, Commerce, simple battery under the Family Violence Act after he allegedly struck a juvenile male in the face during a family argument.

•Wanda Chastain Randall, 50, 11 Oak Ridge Trail, Arnoldsville, picked up at the Athens-Clarke jail on five Commerce warrants for failure to appear.

•Katherine Hogan, 23, 1391 Hwy. 172, Colbert, picked up from the Athens-Clarke jail for an unspecified city warrant.

•Elio Carmona-Hildalgo, 26, 15275 Sunray Court, Foley, AL, failure to maintain a lane and driving without a license. The report noted that when asked for a driver’s license, Carmona-Hildalgo gave the officer his Mexican voter registration card.

•Laura Lynn Thompson, 30, 101 Glenwood Avenue, Apt. 1, Knoxville, TN, failure to dim headlights, obstruction of officers and driving with a suspended license. When pulled over on U.S. 441 for the headlight infraction, Thompson presented the driver’s license of another person. In addition, her passenger, Stephanie Diane Coalley, 23, 75 Presley Lane, Toccoa, was charged with obstruction of officers, giving false information and permitting an unlicensed person to drive. She too gave a false name, according to the arrest report, but tripped up when she couldn’t decide whether her age was 38 or 31.

Banned From Flying J

A 64-year-old white male was given a criminal trespass warning and told not to come back to the Flying J travel plaza last week.
Store personnel summoned police due to a “suspicious” man — who had been observed masturbating in the restroom on a prior visit. The officer made contact with the suspect and issued the criminal trespass warning.
Also last week, city police:

•investigated a burglary at a Piedmont Street residence where a 28-year-old black female said she came home from work to find someone had entered the residence through an unlocked bedroom window and stolen an Xbox game system and several games belonging to her brother. She gave police the name of a suspect.

•reported that a mental patient who walked out of Northridge Medical Center returned on her own – and apologized for running away. Police had searched for 45 minutes and were about to bring in a tracking dog and a Georgia State Patrol helicopter when the 44-year-old white female returned.
