Could a liquor store be in Nicholson’s immediate future?
At its monthly work session meeting on Nov. 29, the Nicholson City Council agreed to hold a public hearing/public forum at 6 p.m. on Thursday, Jan. 24, to hear from city residents on the sale of alcohol in the city.
Dan Shah, owner of Dan’s Food Mart, and Paul Makeem, came before the council to request that the city allow for the sale of alcohol in the city.

So the city council wants to finish sending Nicholson into the pits of hell. They ought to be ashamed. I can believe it out of Ronnie and the rest of them but i just cant believe Howard would go along with this. The best thing that could ever be happen in Nicholson would be for the city charter to be revoked so they couldnt waste all the splost and grant money they rip off the county and the state.

You talking about the community center that is used every weekend sometimes several different times a day or the amphitheater where city events are held church functions are held fund raiders are held to raise money for families in need at no charge or the playgrounds that splost provided is your head in the clouds or maybe you have been partaking in the spirits that living in the unincorporated areas of jackson county provide as related to your residence .keep up the good job city hall

How is it sending the town into the pits of hell. If they don't get it in Nicholson they will just drive 5 miles and get it there.

It's not ,fleeman lives a mile out of the city limits not even in town. He lives in the wet unincorporated Jackson county his comments are senseless I don't think he would think he lives in hell because he is wet and Nicholson isn't and I don't think the devil is waiting at the city limit sign waiting on a beer decision to enter into Nicholson I think he probably has already set up residence

As has already been pointed out, beer is available practically right outside the city limits. So Dan is being "punished" by not being able to compete with the stores that sell beer because his business is inside the city limits. He invested in a new gas station and is responsible for the Subway sandwich shop coming in, right in the heart of town. If Dan had not "made it happen", I doubt anyone else would have. I think he has provided a service and store for the citizens of Nicholson when everyone else was moving their business away from the center of town. If Dan can bring in a shopping center and the "price" is selling beer, I think the city should jump at it. May as well let Dan sell beer, make a few more dollars, I think he deserves some payback for the investments he's already made, and what he's willing to invest in for the future.
