Commerce police announced the arrest last week of Brent Morgan Ellis, 32, of 119 Hickory Street, Commerce, for public indecency.

The charges stem from a Nov. 5 incident in which two white females told police they saw a man in a black Dodge Caliber four-door hatchback masturbating while stopped at the red light near Walgreens and CVS. The same man had previously tried to attract the attention of one of the women near the same intersection.

Maybe they were mistaken. Could have been a stick shift? Drive shaft problems? Threw a rod? Adjusting the knob on the radio? Ball bearing issue?
