It would probably be a good idea for a Katie Lane couple to keep the Christmas eggnog alcohol-free next week, according to the Commerce Police Department.
Officers responded to a domestic incident apparently fueled by alcohol to find a 35-year-old white female who reported that she and her husband, a 35-year-old white male, had been involved in an altercation that became physical.
The woman said the two were returning from the Falcons’ game, although the man said they were coming back from being with friends. As they motored along Interstate 85, the woman said she was sleeping when her husband asked if she wanted to go “hang out” somewhere or go home. He got mad, she said, when she said she wanted to go home.
As they traveled north on I-85, the woman described the scene. She said she threw a cup at her husband, and he choked her and pulled her hair, all in view of the rest of the driving public.
When they arrived at their Commerce residence, she continued, he threw her to the floor and tried to strangle her.
The officer observed that the woman was “highly intoxicated,” and she conceded that the two of them had been drinking all day.
The man told police that his wife had thrown a cup at him, but he denied trying to choke her.
According to the incident, the woman’s father and brother arrived at the residence. Talking to them, the officers learned that the couple had a history of such fights. “Every time they fuss, alcohol has been a factor,” the officer wrote.
The man admitted having consumed “several glasses” of vodka.
The woman’s father agreed to take her home with him, and since there were no signs of injury, police made no arrests.
