An Orchard Circle man learned first-hand that no good deed goes unpunished.
The 25-year-old white male explained to police that, as a favor, he let a friend, a white female, live with him for two weeks. On Dec. 18, while he was at work, she left — apparently taking his lock box that was in a closet with her.
The victim said the box contained 30 silver dollars, 15 gold dollars, $800 in Italian currency, a first-cut $1 bill, and a 1943 nickel.
He told the police that the woman was on probation from Jackson County, but county officials reportedly did not have her name on file.
