The Jackson County Board of Education made several district leadership moves during the past week, including naming a new principal for East Jackson Comprehensive High School.
Tim Stowers, the former head football coach at Georgia Southern University and University of Rhode Island, will take the EJCHS principal’s position starting Feb. 1 following action last Thursday. The BOE also named Todd Nickelsen as principal of South Jackson Elementary School starting July 1 and Bill Stewart for the new position of coordinator of safety, security and activities starting Feb. 1.
Tuesday night, the board approved moving Maryann Hale, administrator of the Gordon Street Center, to principal of West Jackson Middle School. Current WJMS principal Lissa Hill will move to administrator of the GSC.
Stowers
A graduate of Auburn University where he played football, Stowers has also worked in sales and is currently the assistant head coach and offensive coordinator at Central Connecticut State University. He and his wife Gay have two grown children, T.J., who is a financial advisor, and Katherine Lee, who is a senior at the University of Alabama.
Stewert
Stewert comes to EJCHS from James Clemens High School in Alabama where he has been the school’s athletic director and football coach for the past year. He was hired at the school when Jackson County School System superintendent John Green served as principal there. Green became superintendent at the JCSS last summer.
Stewart has previously coached in Florida and at Parkview and Etowah high schools in Georgia. He is a graduate of Central Florida University with a bachelor of science degree in criminal justice and a master of education from the University of Alabama.
Nickelsen
Nickelsen is currently the director and regional coordinator at the Oconee River Georgia Youth Science and Technology Center in Winterville. He has taught science and math at the elementary and middle school levels in Clarke County. He has a master’s degree in educational leadership from the University of Georgia. And a Bachelor of Arts in Philosophy from Furman University.
