A woman police found to be “very possessive” of her boyfriend was unsuccessful in getting police to arrest him following an argument she started.
According to the Commerce Police Department incident report, a 19-year-old white female came to the police department to inquire about getting a restraining order on a 19-year-old black male she described as her boyfriend.
According to her account, she’d visited him at his apartment, where she got into an argument with him over the photo of another woman on his Instagram site. She said he grabbed her by the arms, causing bruising. She also said she hit him back.
Police advised her on the process of getting a restraining order.
The report said the woman hesitated about filling out a written statement, saying she did not want to get into trouble, and the officer writing the report observed that she appeared to want police to arrest the man.
After the woman left, an officer went to the location of the incident, where the man’s mother told police her son has had multiple issues with the woman making unfounded accusations, but that the two were not in a relationship. The mother told officers where to find her son.
They contacted him at Crossing Place Apartments, Steve Reynolds Industrial Boulevard, where he told them that in no way did the confrontation — on his part — become physical. He said he did not grab the girl, but she did strike him multiple times. He said she was upset because he doesn’t want to be in a relationship with her, and told police that the photo that got her upset was an old photo. He further advised police that the woman frequently comes over to his apartment and starts arguments.
“It also became evident that she was very possessive of (the man),” the police report concluded.
