But most importantly, while there were no hard questions or critical comments from the audience, citizens appreciate the fact that the mayor, city council and city manager all welcome questions and, in fact, solicit input. That attitude creates a sense of transparency in city government.

Citizens who attended also recognized that Hill is well-informed, is a hands-on mayor and has high expectations for city staff and for meeting the financial challenges and serving the needs and desires of his constituents. As they come to understand that he — and the city council — are open to discussion, including criticism, attendance at future town hall meetings will almost certainly increase.
