The Commerce School System will lose its superintendent on June 30 as James E. “Mac” McCoy is taking a job as superintendent of the Lee County, AL, school system.
McCoy said finances are at the heart of the decision.
“Obviously, I’ve got 30-plus years in the state of Georgia,” he said. “I had the opportunity to retire from one state and draw full retirement at an age where I’m still prime for employment. It just makes good financial sense to do that.”
