Commerce will celebrate Independence Day with music and fireworks Saturday night in Spencer Park downtown.
The event will begin at 7 p.m. with a demonstration by the Tiger Town Twirlers, followed by music from Hooch Holler on a stage on Little Street facing the park. A fireworks show will begin at dark, launched from the Public Safety Complex just a block south on South Elm Street.
The event is free and open to the public.
Parts of Pine Street, Little Street and Oak Street will be closed for the event.
Various vendors will offer soft drinks, popcorn, cotton candy and ice cream, and there will be face painting for the kids, but the Downtown Development Authority, which sponsors the event, would like to see families have picnics in the park.
