For the first time in years, Commerce ended the fiscal year with all its proprietary funds in the black.
Finance director James Wascher presented year-end results to the city council Monday night showing the General Fund $179,737 in the black as of June 30, the final day of the fiscal year.
“I don’t expect to see much change in that number,” he told the mayor and council.
In addition, Wascher said, the Water Fund wound up $285,638 in the black, the Electric Fund $252,582 in revenue over expenditures and the Gas Fund — which he called “the highlight” of his report — $288,189 in the black.
