The Commerce Board of Education will meet twice this week to interview candidates for the position of superintendent of schools.
The board will meet Thursday at 4:30 p.m. and Friday at 2:30 p.m., with both meetings taking place in the central office. They were originally scheduled for the Commerce Middle School conference room, but the location was changed due to maintenance issues. The meetings will not be open to the public.
Interim superintendent of schools Joy Tolbert said the board will interview two candidates at each meeting.
The board expects to narrow the search to three or fewer finalists in mid to late August, at which times the names of the finalists will be made public, according to an announcement by its search consultant, King, Cooper and Associates.
