The Commerce Board of Education will name Kyle Moore to fill the unexpired term of Mary Seabolt in District 2.
Chairman Rodney Gary made the announcement on Monday. The term expires Dec. 31.
“He expressed an interest four years ago to run for that seat and decided not to,” Gary said. “He expressed an interest four years ago and this time too.”
Adam Fouche also approached Gary about being named for the seat, which will be up for re-election in November for another four-year term. Gary said he also spoke with Fouche.
“We’re finding out from our attorney this morning to finalize everything,” Gary said. “We’re hoping he can be there Thursday at the work session.”
Seabolt resigned recently after more than 20 years on the board.
Moore, 29, is a 2002 graduate of Commerce High School and a 2006 graduate of Auburn University, from which he received a bachelor of science degree in horticulture. He is a member of the Commerce Planning commission and is married to the former Erin Redmon, who is a local attorney. They have a son, Cooper, 2.
