Just two months after longtime school board member Mary Seabolt resigned, a 19-year veteran of the Commerce Board of Education announced that he will not seek re-election in November.
Arthur Lee Pattman has represented District 1 on the board since 1994. He announced at the school board’s “work session” meeting Thursday, Aug. 8, that he’s not interested in another term.
“Health issues got the best of me,” Pattman explained. “I had a lung removed in 1997, then in September 2012 I had a stroke. In June this year I had another. I keep getting back up though.”
Pattman’s term expires Dec. 31, as does the unexpired term of Seabolt from District 2. Kyle Moore joined the board on Monday night as an interim member from District 2.
