A man possibly under the influence of drugs told Commerce police that someone stole his medication from his truck while he was shopping at Fred’s, South Elm Street, according to a police incident report.
The 33-year-old white male said he’d been in the store for 45 minutes and came out to find the medications gone and the faceplate of his CD player missing.
The man’s brother, a 38-year-old white male, told police that the alleged victim had a history of abusing medications. Furthermore, employees at Fred’s said the man was “acting very weird,” in the store — singing, talking to himself, and was wearing the shoes he intended to purchase. Customers in the store concurred, and the officer noted slurred speech, an unsteady gait, constricted pupils, “sleepy” eyes and inappropriate speech.
The victim indicated that he’d left the vehicle unlocked when he went into the store.
