The Commerce Police Department is investigating a burglary at Cody Fuels in which someone broke through a concrete block wall, entered the company safe and broke into and looted an ATM machine in the business.
An officer was summoned to the Maysville Road business on Sunday when a female manager called 911 after arriving to find no lights on, a cooler out of place and items blocking the door.
The officer noticed items on the floor around the counter, walked behind the building and discovered a four-foot by four-foot hole in the cinderblock wall. He entered the building and found “a large amount of damage.”
While the office had not been entered and the cash drawer was intact — with cash — the officer found the ATM damaged and its contents gone, a drop safe behind the counter pried open and its contents gone, various merchandise cases open and contents scattered, and three video slot machines damaged.
The manager gave police the name of a potential suspect.
