The 23rd annual Art in the Park Festival presented by the Tumbling Waters Society will be held Saturday and Sunday at Hurricane Shoals Park. The event will also include a bluegrass and barbecue festival.
The two-day festival will feature handmade crafts, homemade foods, bluegrass and gospel music, the 5K Mill Race, the Duck Dash, Heritage Village activities, a kids’ zone and antique automobiles on display.
From 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Saturday, exhibits will be presented in the Heritage Village, including: tours of cabins; an Indian artifact display; a blacksmith demonstration, basket weaving, soap making, spinning, chair caning and quilting. Civil War re-enactors will be camped by the river and will demonstrate life in a Confederate Army camp. Cherokee Indians with history, storytelling, dancing and art demonstrations will be featured at 10 a.m., 11 a.m., noon, 1:30 p.m., 2:30 p.m., 3:30 p.m. and 4:30 p.m. Shape note music classes will be presented in the chapel at 10:30 a.m., 11:30 a.m., 12:30 p.m., 2:30 p.m., 3:30 p.m. and 4:30 p.m.
