The Walton Group has withdrawn its request to have more than 400 acres along Homer Road near Hospital Road rezoned for a mixed-use development. The matter was on the agenda for the Commerce Planning Commission's meeting Monday night.
This marks the third time the Walton Group was scheduled to come before the planning commission only to scratch the item from the agenda.
The company still plans to pursue the project, according to a company spokesman, but withdrew the rezoning request to try to rework the plan to meet concerns expressed by the planning panel during recent meetings. One of those concerns was the lack of information from the company about the minimum size of its single-family houses and its townhouses.
The planning commission meets Monday night at 7:00 in the Peach Room of the Commerce Civic Center.
